Integrated façade solutions for public buildings
Solutions that provide safety, comfort and improved performance, whilst respecting both people and architecture.
Public buildings have different functions and different requirements. A historic government ministry, a modern school and a research centre do not require the same solutions – but they all need to function on a daily basis.
At Optinor, we view the building as a whole. We combine solutions for security, privacy, solar shading and comfort, tailored to the existing architecture and the building’s intended use.
And because a public building cannot simply be put on hold, we plan solutions and installations with the least possible disruption to day-to-day operations.
Typical challenges
Protect people, buildings and assets
Ensure confidentiality and protect information
Reduce heat and glare
Preserve the architecture and improve the building
Public buildings may be subject to stricter requirements regarding protection against vandalism, burglary, accidents and other threats. The solution is tailored to the building’s function and the required level of security.
We recommend
Meetings, screens and sensitive information must be protected without necessarily having to close off the rooms or block out natural light.
We recommend
Large glazed areas provide valuable natural light, but can also cause overheating and annoying glare for staff, pupils, students and visitors.
We recommend
From historic and heritage-listed buildings to modern glass façades, the solution must complement the architecture. Existing buildings can often be improved without extensive refurbishment.

Who do we help?
Among other things, we work with
We assist public sector organisations with a wide variety of buildings and requirements. What they all have in common is the desire to create safe, well-functioning environments and to improve the building’s performance, whilst respecting both the architecture and the people who use it every day.
Securing critical functions and infrastructure
Robust buildings are part of robust operations.
The
CER Directive places greater emphasis on the resilience of critical facilities and the physical risks that may affect people, buildings and business continuity.
Optinor can contribute to the physical aspects of security with, amongst other things, security window film, specialised glass and the securing of windows, doors and façades.
In many existing buildings, the level of security can be improved without replacing the entire façade, and with solutions and installation planned to minimise disruption to day-to-day operations.
When safety requirements are particularly high
From glass security to complete high-security façade solutions.
Some public buildings and facilities require a significantly higher level of security. Here, security is not about a single product, but about a comprehensive solution in which glass, windows, doors and the façade work together based on the building’s specific risk profile.
With specialised solutions from suppliers including Sälzer, Hammerglass and Schüco, we can provide various levels of physical security, ranging from upgrading existing glazing to complete security windows, doors and façade systems.
Security is also about information. In rooms where confidential conversations take place, sensitive data is held or critical functions are carried out, specialised films applied to glass can help protect against visual information leakage and certain forms of electronic eavesdropping.
In this way, physical security and the protection of information can be considered together as part of the building’s overall security.
