Window film installed in schools in Copenhagen improves well-being and indoor air quality
Background
A special school in Copenhagen wanted to create a more comfortable indoor environment for both pupils and staff. The large glass surfaces posed challenges in terms of heat, glare and direct sunlight, particularly in classrooms and communal areas.
In environments where well-being, concentration and a safe setting are an important part of everyday life, light and temperature play a major role in both the working environment and the learning environment. Consequently, a solution was needed that could reduce the discomfort caused by the sun without diminishing the amount of daylight entering the building.
The process
At Optinor, we installed heat-reducing solar film on around 100 windows, spread across both terraces and first-floor façades.
For this project, we used 3M Prestige 70 Exterior, an exterior solar film that effectively reduces heat and glare whilst maintaining a natural light intake.
Despite periods of strong wind, the installation was carried out safely and efficiently thanks to the fitters’ experience and thorough planning.
The result
The result is a more comfortable school and working environment with better temperature control and less glare from the sun.
