Ballerup Municipality: Effective solar shading with 3M™ Prestige 40 Exterior
Background
Large glass façades create bright and inviting workspaces, but they can also present challenges in terms of heat, glare and high temperatures – particularly on the upper floors of a building, where sunlight is at its strongest.
Ballerup Municipality wanted to improve the indoor climate and create more comfortable working conditions without compromising on natural light or the view of the green surroundings around the building.
Following a technical assessment, the choice fell on 3M™ Prestige 40 Exterior, which offers higher solar rejection and better glare reduction than lighter-coloured film types.
The process
The project involved the installation of 3M™ Prestige 40 Exterior on 165 windows.
As with all major projects, the work was carefully planned to ensure efficient installation and a consistent finish across the entire façade.
The external installation allows the film to block a large proportion of the sun’s energy before the heat reaches the interior through the glass, thereby improving both comfort and energy efficiency.
The result
The result is a more comfortable working environment with less heat and significantly reduced glare – particularly in those areas where the sun has the greatest impact on the building.
