WORQ: A better working environment with effective solar shading
Background
At WORQ, the workplace is much more than just an office. Modern design, natural daylight and inspiring surroundings help to create an environment where businesses and employees can thrive and be productive.
Large glass panels provide fantastic views and plenty of daylight, but on sunny days they can also cause significant heat build-up and annoying glare. This can affect both comfort and the working environment, particularly in office buildings where many people work in front of computer screens.
To create a more pleasant indoor climate, Optinor was chosen to install solar film on the building’s most sun-exposed glazed areas.
The process
The project involved the installation of more than 160 m² of solar film across several floors, stairwells, entrance areas and terrace areas.
The installation was planned to ensure it could be carried out efficiently with the least possible disruption to the building’s day-to-day activities.
During the work, our fitters experienced first-hand just how great the difference was between glazed areas with and without solar film. Even on hot, sunny days, the temperature and glare were noticeably reduced, whilst daylight and the view were preserved.
The result
The result is a more comfortable working environment, where staff and visitors can continue to enjoy the bright office spaces without the same discomfort caused by direct sunlight.
Among other things, the solar film helps to:
- Reduced heat gain in the building
- Less glare when working at computer screens
- Preservation of natural daylight and views
- High UV protection, which helps to protect furnishings from fading
- Improved comfort all year round
When offices are designed with well-being in mind, it is not just about furniture and architecture. Glass façades play a key role in how a space is experienced, and the right solar shading makes it possible to retain the benefits of daylight whilst improving the indoor climate.
At Optinor, we help businesses, architects and facility managers find the solution that best suits the building’s architecture, the users’ needs and the physical environment.
