Safety and sun protection with Ultra Prestige at Shell Køng Biogas (Nature Energy)
Background
Shell Køng Biogas (Nature Energy) wanted to improve safety at its facilities. The building’s glazed areas – including both windows and doors – posed a potential risk in the event of an accident. The aim was to protect both staff and visitors, whilst maintaining the building’s natural light and aesthetic appeal.
The project had to comply with the requirements of the CER Directive and ensure a long-term solution that combines both safety and energy efficiency.
The process
Optinor installed 3M™ Ultra Prestige security window film on all relevant glass surfaces. Prior to installation, all surfaces were thoroughly cleaned and prepared to ensure optimum adhesion.
The Ultra Prestige films were applied with high precision and expertise, ensuring that the result not only meets safety requirements but also looks uniform and professional. The film protects against vandalism, broken glass and forced entry, whilst also reducing heat gain and UV radiation.
The work was carried out without disrupting day-to-day operations at the biogas plant, which required coordination and expertise from the team.
The result
With the Ultra Prestige film, Shell Køng Biogas achieves:
Enhanced safety for people and equipment against accidents and vandalism
Protection from the sun and heat, with up to 60 per cent of incoming heat and 97 per cent of the sun’s infrared rays being rejected
UV protection, which extends the lifespan of the interior
Preservation of natural light (50–70 per cent of incoming light is retained)
Extra strength and durability, 32 times more tear-resistant than standard safety films
Can be combined with 3M™ Impact Protection systems for extra security
