Krystallen: A solar film that enhances energy efficiency without compromising on natural light
Background
The Krystallen is renowned for its striking glass architecture and high standards in terms of both aesthetics and indoor climate. With large glass surfaces and significant solar gain, particularly on the upper floors, a solution was needed that could contribute to the building’s energy efficiency and thermal comfort without reducing daylight or views.
The aim was to improve the indoor climate and reduce solar heat gain, whilst preserving the building’s architectural character and transparency.
The process
The installation comprised more than 270 m² of solar film and was carried out on selected glazed sections on the upper floors, where the sun’s impact is greatest.
The solar film was fitted within one of the building’s glazing systems, between the outer and inner layers of glass. Although we were sheltered from the wind and rain, the limited working space placed particular demands on planning, precision and installation.
The work was carried out with great care and technical expertise. During the installation, our team also enjoyed a unique view of the city – a reminder of why solutions for modern glass buildings require both experience and respect for the architecture.
The result
The result is a discreet yet effective sun-shading solution that reduces heat gain and helps to lower energy consumption, without affecting daylight, views or the building’s visual appearance.
The solution improves comfort for the building’s occupants and supports more sustainable operation of the property.
