CBRE: Frosted film that combines design, safety and functionality
Background
Modern offices are often designed with large glass walls, which create open, bright and inspiring workspaces. However, transparent glass partitions can also pose a risk if they are difficult to spot.
According to the Building Regulations’ guidance, glass partitions where there is a risk of people colliding with them should be marked or screened off to reduce the risk of accidents. At the same time, the marking can form a natural part of the building’s architecture and visual identity.
When CBRE set out to upgrade its own office facilities, the solution was a combination of safety, functionality and aesthetics, using frosted film on the glass walls in the meeting rooms.
The process
Optinor fitted custom-made frosted film to the glass panels around the meeting rooms.
The solution was designed to clearly highlight the glass walls whilst preserving the open and light-filled architecture that characterises modern office environments.
The frosted film also provides a comfortable level of privacy during meetings without blocking out natural light.
The result
The result is a solution that combines safety, a healthy working environment and an elegant visual appearance.
Among other things, the frosted film provides:
- Clear marking of glass sections
- Reduced risk of collision with glass walls
- Greater privacy in meeting rooms
- Preservation of natural light and open-plan spaces
- A modern and harmonious design that complements the office’s architecture
The project demonstrates that safety and design are not mutually exclusive; on the contrary, they can complement one another and create better working environments.
At Optinor, we help businesses, architects and facility managers with solutions that combine functionality, aesthetics and user wellbeing.
